NEW TO AION

Post by Noky on Mon Feb 08, 2010 10:16 am

Hello all, I have just found this site, I am a Runes of Magic player and I was wondering if Aion is available in South Africa,I suppose it is or else there would not be such a site right? My question is, can we play on any server? I mean EU and US? What is the latency like? It is true that the servers crash on a regular basis? All information is appreciated.

Thanks all

1. Yes Aion is available here
2. You could play on the US servers but you need the US client and your latency would be poooo
3. I play without gamepath and get anywhere from 450-600ms max guys on gamepath get about 250-350max
4. No it's not true that the servers crash who told ya that?

You mentioned gamepath? what is that? sorry Noob here haha ... what do you think of the game? what is the best character to start? I have so many questions but dont want to bombard you with all of them right now ... Smile

Thanks

Hey Noky,

Welcome to AionSA.
Gamepath is a pay service to lower game pings. Check out the site HERE

You can buy Aion from most PC games stores. Most of us playing here bought it from BT Games. They have branches in most major cities.

Oh, character choice depends on you play style and what you want out of the game. If you are just after the PvE aspect go for a Spiritmaster, for example. If PvP is your thing, get a Ranger or Assassin up... if you'd like something that's good in both, go Cleric or Sorcerer. For group play you cant go wrong with the Templar or Chanter... All the character classes have their own pros and cons.

We had some issues with servers in the distant past but thats all been sorted.

Lastly, if you do get the game, most of us here are on the EU Spatalos server playing Elyos. Wink

Apo.

Hi all, yes I joined Spatalos and I am Mage, Eylos. Also started a Scout, Eylos but, gosh guys, the camera movement is sooooo slow, or is it the mouse sensisivity? whatever it is is putting me off the game. I am currently playing Runes of Magic on US Servers and the playability is amazing. I am sure that slowleness I am experiencing is due to some setting, Can anyone help here? I prefer to control the movement of the character with the mouse by pressing both buttons like in Runes of Magic I just cant get it right, I at times, find myself looing at the sky (lmao) its quite funny but not enjoying the game as I should be. btw thanks for the responses ... Smile one more question ... how much is the gamepath extra per month? ... and do I need it? I am on 4mbit connection how do I check the latency? in ROM I can check by pressing Cntl X .... cheers

Hmmmmmmmm one more thing .. why EU Servers? The people in US are so much more fun ... thats my opinion ... always played games in US Servers, like Diablo 2, Counter Strike etc etc etc :/

LOL, First time I have heard a South African prefer a US server to a EU one..

Americans bitch and they BITCH ALOT Razz

To see your latency just type /ping in the chatbox Smile

As to the camera thing, change or play around with your settings under the game options. you can get to these by pressing "O" while ingame Smile

Watchers is a Legion based on the Spatalos server. Its an Elyos Legion.. If you would like to join them PM Sinnerfury or Cayli ingame for an invite. Please remember to also post in this forum to join them
